2009 USTA Pacific Northwest award nominations
Nominations for 2009 USTA Pacific Northwest Awards are no longer being accepted. The award winners will be honored at the annual Lunch of Champions to be held on Saturday, December 5 at the Bellevue Club in Bellevue, Wash. The 2009 award recipients will also be announced on our website in the coming months.
Thank you to everyone who stepped up to submit a nomination. We received notice of many deserving candidates and look foward to recognizing them. Please click here to view a list of those individuals who received awards in 2008.
USTA Pacific Northwest Award Criteria
Family of the Year
Awarded to emphasize that tennis is a family game and is based on the entire family's participation in tennis as players and volunteers. USTA Pacific Northwest award winner represents the section for the national USTA Ralph Wescott Family of the Year award.
Scott Eden Sportsmanship Award (Male & Female)
The Scott Eden Sportsmanship Award is a memorial award given to a male and female junior in the section who demonstrates qualities of sportsmanship and personal character. One of the recipients is selected to represent the USTA Pacific Northwest for the prestigious International Tennis Hall of Fame Bill Talbert Junior Sportsmanship Award.
Community Champions
Awarded to those "ground level" contributors who are often the unrecognized "movers and shakers" that make things happen at the local level for community based programs. Areas of impact may be in Schools, Team Tennis, public outreach/programs, community partnerships or trainings.
Outstanding Contribution to the Community
Recognizes significant community outreach and impact that spans a range of program areas including, but not limited to: Schools, Parks & Recreation, Multicultural Outreach, Tennis on Campus, NJTL, Adaptive Tennis, Wheelchair, CTAs, USPTA, PTR. Award can be for an individual, organization or program. Critical areas such as advocacy, inclusion, court development and partnership building are also considered.
Tournament Director of the Year
Recognizes directors whose events consistently follow USTA and USTA Pacific Northwest tournament standards and provide a pleasant atmosphere for players. Based on nominations from throughout the section, evaluation forms, player and parent responses.
Outstanding Junior Event
Recognizes an event that consistently follows USTA and USTA Pacific Northwest tournament standards and provides a pleasant atmosphere for players. Based on nominations from throughout the section, evaluation forms, player and parent responses.
Outstanding Senior Event
Recognizes an event that consistently follows USTA and USTA Pacific Northwest tournament standards and provides a pleasant atmosphere for players. Based on nominations from throughout the section, tournament feedback and positive unsolicited information through the USTA Pacific Northwest Schedule & Sanction Committee and section office.
