USTA/PNW Officials at NIKE Clash of the Champions
The Pacific Northwest enjoyed the play of some of the world's best tennis players on March 8 as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova, and Victoria Azarenka competed in "NIKE Clash of the Champions" at Matthew Knight Arena on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Ore.
With athletes of this caliber competing on court, Officials are needed to fill every role. Like a Grand Slam, Officials working the "NIKE Clash" were needed to cover the chair, the service lines, the baselines, and the sidelines. Officiating to this extent is rare for USTA Pacific Northwest (USTA/PNW) Officials who work section tournaments and collegiate matches but it is an exciting opportunity for those who aspire to work on a big stage with world-class athletes.
