Apply for USTA Pacific Northwest and USTA Serves College Scholarships, Player Incentive Award also available

The application for the USTA Pacific Northwest Glenn Lovett College Scholarship is now available. The section scholarship is named in honor of former USTA Pacific Northwest Secretary-Treasurer Glenn Lovett who passed away in November of 2007. Glenn was an avid tennis player and volunteer who contributed critical advice, a positive attitude and good humor during his tenure on the USTA Pacific Northwest Board of Directors.

Criteria for those applying for the section scholarship is as follows:

•  Current membership in the USTA Pacific Northwest Section (USTA/PNW).
•  Participation as a tennis player in the USTA/PNW.
•  Personal character, strong values, community involvement and good sportsmanship.
•  Financial need.

Applications for both the USTA/PNW Glenn Lovett College Scholarship and USTA Serves college scholarships must be postmarked by February 10, 2012.

High school seniors graudating in 2012 are encouraged to apply. Please view and print the USTA Pacific Northwest and USTA Serves College Scholarship application form. It also important that you view and print the directions and guidelines for completing the scholarship application. Incomplete USTA Pacific Northwest and USTA Serves College Scholarship applications will not be considered. It is the responsibility of the applicant to know and follow the application guidelines. 

All applicants will assemble and submit, in one envelope, the application, required supporting documentation , and a current photograph. All endorsements and transcripts must be submitted in sealed envelopes with the endorser’s or guidance counselor’s signature over the seal.

NOTE: By completing and submitting this scholarship application to the USTA/PNW office, you will be considered for the USTA Pacific Northwest Glenn Lovett College Scholarship as well as the USTA Serves college scholarships that you choose to select on your application (please see descriptions of each below). There is only one (1) application that is used for all scholarships.

 

USTA Serves College Scholarships 

In addition to those offered by the USTA/PNW, the following scholarships are being awarded through USTA USTA Serves for webServes:

Please refer to the 2012 USTA Serves College Scholarship Program information sheet for complete descriptions of the scholarships listed above and to view the specific qualifications for each of the scholarships.

Applications for both the USTA/PNW Glenn Lovett College Scholarship and USTA Serves college scholarships must be postmarked by February 10, 2012.

USTA Serves Player Incentive Awards

 USTA Serves provides Player Incentive Awards on an annual basis. This award is a one time, non-renewable grant of $500. The purpose of the Player Incentive Awards is to encourage the development of USTA youth tennis program participants with great potential and a commitment to academic excellence.

Qualifications
The applicant must:
• currently be enrolled in grades 6-11;
• show financial need for all tennis related fees;
• demonstrate a strong commitment to academic achievement;
• be a participant in a USTA youth tennis program; and,
• be a middle school player with high school varsity team potential or high school varsity player.

Awards
1. Each recipient of an Incentive Award is eligible to receive a total of $500 for one year.
2. Each recipient is expected to use the award for expenses such as tournament fees, indoor/winter lessons, summer tennis programs, and/or fees for participation in USTA and other tennis organization programs.
3. The player incentive award will be paid directly to the USTA program (or sponsoring organization) which is to disburse funds for the recipient’s approved expenses.

Application Process
Please view and print the USTA Serves Player Incentive Award application. It is also important to view and print the guidelines for completing the USTA Serves Player Incentive Award applicationIncomplete applications will not be considered. It is the responsibility of the applicant to know and follow the guidelines. 

Applicants will assemble and submit, in one envelope, their application and supporting documents. All reference forms are to be returned to the applicant by the endorser in sealed envelopes with the endorser’s signature over the seal. Applicants will enclose the sealed and signed envelope with their application in one envelope and mail it to the USTA Pacific Northwest Section office using the following address:

All Player Incentive Award applications must be postmarked no later than February 10, 2012 and submitted materials become the property of USTA Serves. Please read all directions and print clearly or type all forms.

Three forms are required:
1) A typed (or printed) and signed application from the candidate and their parent/guardian;
2) A copy of the student’s most recent report card;
3) A typed (or printed) endorsement from the applicant’s tennis coach or pro.
