Diversity

Welcome from USTA Pacific Northwest Diversity Committee

Greetings from the USTA Pacific Northwest Diversity Committee. We are excited to promote the philosophy of diversity and inclusion for EVERYONE in our section. We host and/or sponsor several special events that include: the Intersectional College Workshops (ICWs), an annual Multicultural Participation Open Forum, and the Western Region Minority Coaches Workshop (MCW) In addition, we offer grants and scholarships for coaches, programs, and players to assist in promoting more diversity at all levels of tennis.

Qualified instructors may take advantage of the great certification programs from the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) or the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).  We also assist players and community leaders to identify other resources (volunteers, fundraising, grants, scholarships, community partnerships, and linkages to other programs). Because of our many dedicated volunteers, we have developed more tennis enthusiasts.

Officers and Staff:

Kwan Law, Diversity Committee Chairman, KwanLaw@hotmail.com
Ernest Hartzog, USTA Pacific Northwest Board Liaison
Bill Leong and Valerie Weaks, USTA Pacific Northwest Staff Liaisons

Mission Statement & Goals

To promote diversity and increase participation of multicultural players and volunteers al all levels in the USTA Pacific Northwest Section. Simply stated, we want to welcome EVERYONE to tennis! For the coming year we hope to add more Intersectional College Workshops, conducting diversity trainings for staff and volunteers, enhancing communication, supporting Diversity Area Representatives and developing more programs that encourage multicultural participation and inclusion throughout our organization. We value your ideas and opinion, so please let us know what we can do to further our mission and better serve you.
