Over 200 players on 24 teams representing 12 college tennis clubs celebrated Halloween weekend October 29-30 at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, Ore., competing in the tenth annual USTA Campus Championship - Pacific Northwest. The teams battled for the right to advance to the 2012 USTA National Campus Championship that will be held April 12-14, 2012 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.

In the end University of Oregon (Eugene, Ore.) defeated Western Washington University (Bellingham, Wa.) by a score of 26 to 19 to claim the championship. University of Washington (Seattle) finished in third place and Portland State University took fourth. As the top four finishers, these schools earn the right to represent the USTA Pacific Northwest at the 2012 national championships.

The 2011 USTA Campus Championship - Pacific Northwest was played using the World Team Tennis format which includes men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, and utilizes team scoring so all games counted toward the final outcome of the match.

The USTA has launched a new website designed to serve as a resource for the more than 450 college and universities and nearly 30,000 players across the country who participate in a Tennis On Campus program at their school. The official website of the Tennis On Campus program, www.tennisoncampus.com, will provide an array of resources, materials and information to help support the rapidly expanding non-varsity side of college tennis.

In addition to servicing current college students, tennisoncampus.com also offers an opportunity for high school tennis players, junior players and their parents to become more informed of the tennis “scene” on a particular campus. The site features team profiles, links to each team’s website and popular Facebook pages. All college club teams are encouraged to visit the website to build or update their profiles, contact one another, share tips and set up matches.

Some of the free downloadable resources available on the site include customizable marketing materials, fundraising resources, tips for tennis club leaders, and a guidebook for starting a club tennis team. The site also lists upcoming tournaments like the USTA Campus Championship – Sectional Events and a countdown to the USTA National Campus Championship.
